From “Man Friday” to Nowhere Man
To say it’s been a bad week and a half for Super Aguri’s Yuji Ide would be a vast understatement. Last week he was Aguri Suzuki’s second driver on the fledgeling Japanese F1 team. A few days later he had been demoted, at the urging of the FIA, to the teams Man Friday.
That turned out to be symbolic as Ide-san never put wheel to pavement last weekend at the European GP. Now the transformation is complete. Ide-san has gone from Man Friday to Nowhere Man (apologies to Lennon and McCartney)
SUPER AGURI F1 TEAM confirms that the FIA Permit Office has retracted Yuji Ide

There are cab drivers in NYC who could have done a better job Yuji. Let’s just pray Aguri San keeps himself out of the cockpit. More embarrassment they don’t need!
NYC? I know some in Pusan and Chin Hae Korea that could be better and they have to be the worst, although fastest, cab drivers in the world.
Besides, I’d love to see Aguri climb behind the wheel again. On pure experience, one podium and 80 plus GP’s he’s got Ide beaten hands down.
Nikki Lauda was a three time F1 champ; do you remember his infamous “…monkees can drive the new F1 cars, what with all the driver’s aids,” or something to that effect? He then got in a car and promptly spun himself all over a test track.
On a different scale but similar note, all these retired drivers that Tony George is bankrolling (with the possible exception of Mike Andretti) for the Indy 500 scares me to no end. It’s a tragedy in the making, and that is one prediction I sincerely hope I’m wrong about!
