Is Fernando Alonzo Running Scared?
Maybe not scared, but certainly concerned after Schumacher dusted him this past weekend. He’s crying croc tears.
Fernando Alonso has called on Renault to make swift improvements to its R26 if he is to halt Michael Schumacher’s winning run.Alonso has finished in the top two in every race so far this season but now believes Ferrari has closed the French team’s performance advantage following consecutive wins at Imola and the Nuerburgring.
He said: “We need to improve a little bit in all areas. At Imola we were ready to fight - I think we were quicker than Ferrari during the race.
“But here at the Nuerburgring it was a question of time: when will they overtake us? At the first stop or the second stop? It was nearly impossible to keep them behind for sixty laps.”
Oh cry me a river Ferdie ole boy, you were beaten on pit strategy not on the road.
While on the subject crying, how about these whiners and complainers over here. The BMW Sauber Team’s fans are whimpering like scalded dogs because the team has so far to travel this week.
Next week the F1 WC enters its next round on the Montmelo “Circuit de Calalunya” (Spain). Since the trucks and motorhomes of the teams are forced to travel over 1300 kilometres on their trip from the German Eifel region to Barcelona, it is necessary to dismantle and reassemble in record time.
Oh, gee. Let me get out my trusty slide rule… er, take off my boots. 1300 km amounts to 807.782 549 909 miles, to be precise.
Quick, someone call a Whaa-bulance!
Here’s NASCAR reality check guy. From Charlotte, NC to Los Angeles, CA the distance is 2471 miles. The NASCAR circus not only makes it in less than one week, but makes nearly the same trip (2215 miles) 12 days later to Las Vegas and back to Charlotte, again.
Geesh, some people.

The difference for Alonso this past week came down to one thing and one thing only. They and the knuckle heads at McLaren both chose the wrong Michelin tire compounds (hard over soft) and paid the price. Alonso out qualified Schumi on a lighter fuel load basis.
There is no time for aero or engine improvements in one week, if they pick the wrong compound, again, they will be eating Ferrari clag, yet again.
I think Fernando will recalim the top step in Barcelona, Renault are too good to make the same mistake twice.
Running Scared!!!
For god sake, Im not surprised ppl are twisting words… Ferrari had a clear advantage in the Ring how ever small it may be it was there and its undeniable. Not taking anything away from Michael great win but Nothing in what Alonso said showed fear of any sort.
For the record when Alonso made the statement he had just finished the race and he unlike us he did not hv the courtesy of watching all cars and analysing the performace by then. What he stated was based on what he saw on track and at best what his engineers communicated to him…
Who’s “twisting words?” Read it again, I wrote he is concerned. As far as race pace goes both were faily equal, check the lap times. Alonzo was beaten in the pits not on the track.
