Full Throttle

I’m not sure I’ve ever related this story before, and it isn’t contained in my sorry-assed “Author” page, but as a teenager I had the NASCAR experience of a lifetime.

As a fresh high school graduate, and as a reward for keeping my nose clean and an above “D” grade point average, I was able to attend every Cup race during the 1970 NASCAR season starting with Michigan in June through to the season ending event at Langley Field in November for a grand total of 29 events.

My “sponsor” at the time were two just nutty enough parents who decided it was worth the cash to get rid of me for 5 months. I never argued with them.

That was then, this is now and someone else is looking to recreate my dream season 30 plus years later.

Valli, author of The Fast and the Fabulous, is not only looking to attend each Cup event in 2008 but she’s also making an entire lifestyle change in the process. I’ll let her tell you the plan:
