You Can’t Make This Stuff up Folks!

As NASCAR fans we are all well aware of ISC’s Great Staten Island Adventure. Like any other purposed track location in the last 20 years it met with stiff opposition from the locals.

Staten Island had unique problems, being an Island chief among them, but the rest of the complaints were the usual. Increased traffic and noise associated with it.

Well, ISC announced they have three buyers selected for the property. While the three won’t create problems on the same scale as the track would have the local residents are looking at the same traffic congestion and noise. Not to mention pollution.

Potential buyers include two large real estate development companies and an international shipping firm, with bids ranging from $90 and $110 million for the 676-acre property.

According to sources the likely pick is a development firm that will use the land for warehousing and water-related uses in line with the site’s manufacturing zoning.

I’m not sure what “water-related uses” are but one thing is sure. A warehouse needs a couple things to operate, rail service and a steady flow of 18 wheelers in and out of the property.

I don’t wish any ill will on the good citizens of Staten Island, much, but after all the lies and other related BS that the locals propagated over the track I think it’s funny as hell they will be inundated with the traffic they hated so much earlier.

The day is gonna come when they wish the noise that rattles their windows are buses of NASCAR fans vice a steady stream of smoke belching 18-wheelers.
